The Boston Institute for Nonprofit Journalism is planning to launch a Neighborhood Media School in Winter 2020 to help train working adults to become journalists capable of covering their own communities for Boston area news outlets. The school curriculum will be based on a series of short, inexpensive, four- to six-week courses taught by a highly-qualified and experienced faculty—including BINJ’s Chris Faraone and Jason Pramas, who have both been college journalism professors. Planned courses include: Journalism 101, Journalism 102, Media Analysis, Media Sociology, Photojournalism, Audio Production, and Video Production. College credit for our courses may be available at some future point, but students will be given a certificate of completion for each course they finish with a grade of B- or better.
