The Boston Institute for Nonprofit Journalism is planning to launch a Neighborhood Media School in Spring 2020 as part of our Somerville News Garden project to help train working adults to become journalists capable of covering their own communities for Boston area news outlets. The school curriculum will be based on a series of short, inexpensive courses taught by a highly-qualified and experienced faculty—including BINJ’s Chris Faraone and Jason Pramas, who have both been college journalism professors, and Prof. Gino Canella of Emerson College. Planned courses include: Journalism 101, Multimedia Production, and Civic Media Literacy.
